Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities
The Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities has served children throughout eastern Iowa and western Illinois for more than 72 years. From the beginning, they have provided life-altering physical, occupational, speech and feeding therapy to children with developmental disabilities and delays -- regardless of a family's ability to pay for needed services. The therapists at the Children’s Therapy Center specialize in treating children from birth to age 18 with a variety of developmental disabilities including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, autism, sensory integration disorders, developmental motor delays and speech delays, attention deficit disorder and feeding disorders.
Their physical therapy treatment goals include promotion of gross motor development and independence with mobility, play, and daily living skills. In occupational therapy, they promote self-help skills, fine motor skills, and independence. Speech therapy aims to improve communication in all aspects of daily life and addresses speech sound disorders including articulation, phonology, cleft lip/palate, and apraxia of speech. Feeding therapy enables infants and children to overcome feeding and swallowing disorders, increasing safety and tolerance for young children to receive proper nutrition. A summer camp helps local kids with disabilities learn how to ride a two-wheel bike.
These services give children their best chance of success at becoming independent and productive adults. These treatments can cost a family thousands of dollars a year. Through grant funding, fundraising campaigns and donations, the Children’s Therapy Center provides these treatments for free to more than 75% of their clients, giving all kids a chance to live their best life.
To support their mission of providing therapy services to those in need, the Children’s Therapy Center holds multiple fundraising events and campaigns, such as the annual Chuck Long Charity Auction, Charity Bass Tournament, and various other fun and engaging events.
Wastyn & Associates had the pleasure of working with Children’s Therapy Center on their capital campaign in 2016 to fund their move from their old space in Moline that no longer met their needs to a larger, brighter, and more accessible space in Rock Island. Working together, the campaign raised the needed $1.2 million to purchase, renovate, and furnish the new facility that the kids, staff, and their families just love!
