Rockford AFP Workshop: Strategic Fundraising Planning

  • Discovery Center Museum 711 North Main Street Rockford, IL, 61103 United States (map)

Brought to you by Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Northern Illinois Planned Giving Council (NIPGC), and Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence (NICNE).

Recent research suggested that the number one predictor of fundraising success comes from having a fundraising plan. Even those who consulted their plan infrequently saw an increase of more than $5,000 per donor contact than those without a plan. But a plan that fits one organization may not work for another. This training program will teach you how to develop a strategic fundraising plan that fits your organization's unique needs and constraints and helps you raise more money by working smarter not harder.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the difference between an operational and strategic plan

  • Learn the importance of a mission and vision for your fundraising operations and how to develop one

  • Research your fundraising operation's environment and understand how to use that environment as the foundation for your strategic fundraising plan

  • Learn how to make choices among the many possible avenues for fundraising to determine the best plan for your organization

  • Develop the beginning of a fundraising plan specifically targeted for your organization

  • Determine how to best evaluate your plan to keep it a living, breathing document that helps you raise money for years to come
